Biography

Born in 1972, Montreal-based artist Angela Vaudry’s training in the visual arts began in high school and CEGEP, culminating in a bachelor degree in Fine Arts from Concordia University (2002), specializing in Arts Education.  Wanting to further develop her skills as an emerging artist, she completed additional training in 2022 at l’Accademia d’Arte, in Florence, Italy.  Working primarily with oil paints, her preferred subject matter is portraiture.  

Artistic approach

Angela Vaudry’s paintings are figurative, based both on observation and reference images.  Taking inspiration from her most distinguishable feature, she creates portraits featuring red-haired women.  Working first to produce a greyscale underpainting, she adds layers of mixed paint colours to balance lights and shadows, and feature feminine beauty.
