Née avec des pinceaux et des crayons dans les mains, j’ai toujours préféré occuper mon temps par des projets artistiques et les dessins au grand air. Dès mon jeune âge, mes deux principales passions étaient claires: les arts et l’environnement. Déjà à 7 ans, j’ai su marier les deux en gagnant un concours de dessin des Établissement vert Brunddland, où nous devions illustrer les actions à prendre pour diminuer notre impact environnemental. 

Tout au long de mes études axées sur les sciences biologiques, je suivais des cours d’arts en parallèle. J’ai commencé mes cours de dessin et de peinture à l’huile à 8 ans et je n’ai pas arrêté de peindre depuis. À partir de mes 12 ans, j’ai entamé mes études en Arts et Beaux-Arts à l’Académie des Arts et beaux-arts de Varennes à temps partiel. Sous les apprentissages de M. Sam Aberg, j’ai étudié les différents mouvements picturaux classiques et modernes en plus de suivre des cours de paysage, de modèle vivant, de critique de tableau et d’histoire de l’art. 

Étant une biologiste dans l’âme, j’ai su jumeler mes deux passions que sont les sciences et les arts tout au long de mon parcours. Mes compétences en journalisme scientifique et en analyse de tableau s’entremêlent et me permettent d’avoir un regard critique et analytique sur mes oeuvres et les sujets qui m’entourent. En tant que communicatrice scientifique, j’utilise souvent les dessins, peintures et autres supports visuels pour expliquer des concepts scientifiques. Parallèlement à mes œuvres à l’huile, je fais des illustrations et peintures particulièrement pour des visées en éducation relative à l’environnement (ERE). J’ai notamment illustré un livre pour enfant (“L’aventure du recyclage”, à venir) et des jeux de société. Plusieurs toiles ont été achetées par des collectionneurs privés.

Born with pencils and paintbrushes in my hand, I always prefered spending time doing arts projects and drawing outdoor. Since I was young, my two main passions were clear: arts and environment. When I was 7 years old, I achieved to combine both passions by winning the Drawing Contest of the Établissement vert Brunddland where we had to illustrate actions to take to diminish our environmental impact. 

Along my studies in biology science, I followed my arts classes. I started classes of drawing and oil painting at the age of 8 years old and I never stopped since. At 12, I started my studies in part time of Fine Arts at the Académie des Arts et Beaux-arts de Varennes. Under the teaching of M. Sam Aberg, I studied the different pictural mouvement, modern and classic, plus classes of landscaping, live models, paintings critics and arts history. 

While being a biologist, I achieved to pair my two passions that are arts and science all along my journey. My capacities in science journalism and in paintings analysis are combined and allow me to have a critical and analytic view about my artwork and subjects around me. As a scientific communicator, I often use my artwork and other subjects to explain scientific concepts. In parallel of my oil paintings, I do illustrations and paintings specially for environmental education (ERE). I illustrated a book for children (“L’aventure du recyclage”, to come) and board games as well. Some of my artwork has been purchased by private buyers.

Avec de la peinture à l’huile et mes souvenirs, je peins des sujets préalablement observés avec des touches variées, parfois peaufinées et léchées rappelant le réalisme, parfois aléatoires et discontinuées rappelant l’impressionnisme. Ma démarche est un processus complet et structuré où je commence par l’observation de scènes et d’éléments hors de l’atelier. Avec mon esprit scientifique de biologiste et ma sensibilité d’artiste, j’analyse les détails des sujets qui m’inspirent et j’en fait des croquis réalistes dans mon cahier de dessin qui me suit partout. Je continue par une réflexion sur le sujet et le message véhiculé par celui-ci. Je fais ensuite des recherches pour arriver à une œuvre remplie de symboles, que ce soit des objets, des couleurs ou l’emplacement de ceux-ci.

J’utilise la peinture à l’huile pour m’exprimer et dénoncer des fléaux de la société actuelle, particulièrement l’inaction face aux changements climatiques et la déshumanisation par les technologies et la société de consommation. J’exploite un angle scientifique, réfléchi et critique lorsque j’explore ces thèmes, cherchant à aller au-delà de l’idée préconçue. Je trouve mon inspiration dans les paysages, les quidams, les modèles vivants et les moments de la vie de tous les jours.Au niveau plastique, j’explore les interactions des couleurs et des éléments, l’espace et les formes entre eux. Je désire innover et évoluer dans mes compositions d’œuvres et le mariage des différents styles picturaux.

With oil painting and my memories, I paint subjects previously observed with varied touches, sometimes refined recalling realism, sometimes discontinuous recalling impressionism. My approach is a complete and structured process where I begin by observing scenes and elements outside my workshop. With my scientific mind as a biologist and my sensitivity as an artist, I analyze the details of the subjects that inspire me and I make realistic sketches in my drawing book that follows me everywhere. I continue with a reflection on the subject and the message transmitted by it. I then do research to arrive at a work filled with symbols, whether objects, colors or the location of them.

I use oil painting to express myself and denounce the scourges of today’s society, particularly inaction on climate change and dehumanization by technologies and consumer society. I use a scientific, thoughtful and critical angle when I explore these themes, seeking to go outside the box. I find my inspiration in landscapes, quidams, live modern and moments of everyday life.On the plastic level, I explore the interactions of colors and elements, space and shapes between them. I want to innovate and evolve in my compositions of works and the marriage of different painting styles.

My knowledge of the different styles and movements of classical plastic art allow me to marry them well by exploiting the specific language of each. This is how my works fit into the new art, also called syncretism, a movement where there is a cohabitation of pictorial influences and different movements in the same painting. The aesthetics of my paintings are built according to the rules of fine arts. The eurythmy, the harmony of forms, colors and proportions, is found in my paintings. I exploit the rules of composition of elements in a given space and their interactions.
