Biography

Bronwen Hughes is a visual artist who has lived and worked in Quebec for 25 years. Originally from Thunder Bay, Ontario, she is in the process of professionalizing her work, after having spent over 20 years teaching arts education. She trained while also teaching visual arts to her secondary school students.

Artistic approach

Dancing between expressive art and representational art, I create organic and minimalist paintings to offer visual lightness that invite you to escape, for an ethereal moment.  

Fascinated by local yesteryear culture and by what defines a person to a place, a recurring theme in my work is reinventing familiar landscapes while honouring the distinct historical character of the place.
