Do you want to have a “Diana’s painting" in your house? This is what my friends tell me when they see any of my paintings: "Soon you will be famous. People, will say they want to have a Diana’s painting at home, same as wanting to have a Trompiz or a Frida Kahlo’s". I laugh. I laugh because at this point in my life, my intention is not to become famous. My intention is "to feel" and "to make you feel".
Those who see my paintings can connect with the emotions of the protagonists of my work, their soul and thoughts.
I started painting with oil 20 years ago in Caracas, Venezuela, receiving classes with Professor "Ana". My children, work and migration process to Canada, took me away from my passion, until 5 years ago when I decided to reopen this magical universe. I returned to oil painting, guided by Lorne Winters, Canadian artist, with more than 25 years of experience. With him I made my first portrait, my first still life, my first waterfall. I have painted parrots, butterflies, beaches, portraits and landscapes. They all have been interesting experiences, looking always to refine the techniques, and adventuring to combine with other media.
During the pandemic, I decided to explore new ways of painting in order to keep my emotional balance and reduce the stress. So, I started painting in Watercolour: a totally different expression. Although I still not controlling the water and the movement of a round brush, my intention to feel and make others to feel remain the same… in all my paintings, with all the techniques, through all the themes.
Artistic approach
Oil and Watercolour artist. Member of the Toronto Watercolour Society. Very grateful of every painting opportunity I have to connect with my spirit and soul. I love to combine different techniques on the canvas, vibrant colours and textures. My style is realism. I hope you enjoy my collection and decide to have “a Diana’s” at home.
