Biography

Sue Davies is an Abstract Artist living and working in Oakville, Ontario.  Born in England, raised in Dundas, Ontario, as a youth Sue developed a love of drawing.  Jane Davies,  Sue’s mother painted botanicals  and was her early inspiration.  

Sue earned her Bachelor Degree in Art and Art History from McMaster University and obtained a Bachelor of Education degree from University of Western Ontario.  She worked as an art educator with The Halton District School... Read more

Artistic approach

Painting largely in acrylic on canvas, my technique is such. I loosely draw shapes, paint, then draw again, repeating the process until a composition, complex and balanced is achieved.  Highlight and shadow are added to show depth and overlapping emphasizes ambiguous layers in my work. I am influenced by Cubism. Painting, for me is intuitive and a process of correction. My artwork has an energy of movement. It is about 
Excitement.
