Hi, my name is Andrew Macdonald. I’m an artist originally from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and currently living in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I studied photography and printmaking at the Alberta college of art and design in Calgary, Alberta.

Artistic approach

My work is sentimental but plays with current themes which can be urban, rural, and economic. I like to create new context for everyday scenes and objects. My sense of series and repetition comes from my printmaking background. I’ve used many different materials over the years such as reclaimed wood, including doors, panels and skateboard decks. Currently, my main medium is acrylic paint. Colour, texture and pattern are major influences in my work.
