BIOGRAPHY 

 

Bahaa Talis is an accomplished TV writer, producer, and media creator whose vision is to bring thought-provoking content to mainstream. His media career has spanned several decades throughout Africa, Europe, and now North America. 

 

Talis was first interested in the arts from a young age and would later go on to study experimental theatre in 2002. His formative years helped refine his sensibilities towards the pursuit of emerging artistic mediums. His media career began officially in 2007 at one of Egypt’s leading TV channels as a segment producer for national prime time television. 

 

As his interests in contemporary arts grew, Talis began producing his own unique content, which generated a recorded weekly show called FELKADR, a showcase for short films and festivals. While cultivating his own personal style, Talis explored experimental, documentary, and artistic photography. Later, he would dabble in sculpture, visual installations, and mixed media for luxury brand clients. These experiences promoted Talis from the contemporary art world to commercial TV. He continued working in television for several years, eventually joining a production titled Arabwood. It was a remarkable opportunity to direct celebrity interviews and post-produce Middle Eastern news within a large commercial setting. 

 

In 2011, the Egyptian revolution was quickly unraveling in Cairo. Talis focused his passions on collaborating with organizations such as The Danish Egyptian Dialogue Institute (DEDI) as well as foreign TV crews such as ARTE Germany. He was able to raise socio-political awareness about what was happening on the ground for the next several years. What followed was the successful exhibition aptly named “The Cairo Walk” in Berlin. International accolades came from notable publications such as Huffington Post Italia and TIME magazine. 

 

Talis continued exhibiting his media work in numerous cities around the world including Cairo, Paris, Berlin, and Toronto. He oversaw the launch of a film festival, Corto Del Med, in Avignon, France and the successful pilot series The Citizen 26 in Egypt.  

 

In 2019, Talis immigrated to Canada with his family before the Covid-19 outbreak. Although this period was challenging, he went on to successfully produce content spanning a host of international audiences with Agape Radio (Canadian-Greek), Nandan TV (Canadian-Bangladesh), and 23 Republic (Canadian-Arab). 

 

During this time Talis decided to tailor his personalized media production brand: ROCKMEDIAtv which allows him to offer an array of services and collaborations. His keen eye for detail helps create a visual story and narrative for an entirely new audience, drawing on his personal inspirations from his life abroad. It is no wonder that ROCKMEDIAtv is the perfect blend of TV and social media for the digital age viewer.
