Victoria Eberhardt creates her illustrations mainly with colored pencil but sometimes uses different mediums such as acrylic or water color paints depending on which medium she feels best captures the feeling of the image. Victoria grew up in Windsor, Ontario but now resides in Ottawa, Ontario where she has been focusing on cultivating a career in visual presentation. She first became interested in an artistic career while attending high school, where she spent most of her time working on or participating in the theatrical productions put on by her local theatre company Lakeshore Academy of Fine Arts. In high school she also took an art class elective but defines herself largely as a self-taught artist. In spring of 2020 she started revisiting her passion for the creative arts and opened Capitol Art Shop, a place to sell her artwork and expand her engagement with the local art community. Victoria has also expanded her collection to include finished embroidered pieces of each illustration. She also hopes to create merchandise to help support local musicians.

Music is something that has been with me throughout every chapter of my life and as a highly visual person the songs that I often find move me the most are the ones that tell a story. My art is meant to capture the story, the emotion and the message within the song. In doing this my hope is to nurture the understanding of the human experience, and all the beauty and diversity within it. With each illustration, before I begin drawing I spend time listening to the lyrics, the tempo and the melody. All these things help me in deciding which mediums to use, the color palette to choose, and which key words and phrases to include. I imagine my art as a window into someone else’s world, and my goal is to make that as believable as possible. Being part of the theatre community gave me the opportunity to image myself in many different stories, and I believe that my training in character development greatly influences my ability to imagine the scenarios in the songs I chose to illustrate.
