Cat Prince was born in 1991 and obtained her BFA at Concordia University majoring in Painting and Drawing in 2018. As an undergrad, she supported herself working in the Montreal red light district. She has exhibited in many group shows and had her first duo show at Galerie C.O.A. in September 2018. Recently, she has been active artistically in the skateboarding and tattooing scene to inspire and add to her wide skill set.

I’m interested in the protocols of socio economics within taboo sub cultures generated from nightlife, consumerism and urbanism. My perspective is feminist, labour oriented as it deals with the transparencies and nuances of society. I create abstractions and figurative narratives influenced by these social tensions representing aspects of the sexualized vs. sexuality and how it translates on to canvas and through clay.
My work distorts a male dominant language through a femme, vice loaded aesthetic as a bisexual, biracial woman. I address and distort issues of morality associating a personal memories to spaces as the inner world contrasting the natural. These works suggest narratives of the colonized, sexually marginalized and fetishized; relating power dynamics within the separate classes and races.
