Inspired by the prairie landscape, Christine Marek uses a technique reflective of an ancient medieval style where-by pigments were applied to wood panel. Her signature style draws attention to the natural beauty in the wood grain of each carefully selected piece evoking nostalgia and wonder surrounding the fragile human condition within the context of the natural world.

Graduating in 1991 with a Bachelor of Fine Art, Marek has lived and worked in the Swan River Valley of Manitoba for most of her professional life while laying down creative roots in Winnipeg through her affiliation with the Manitoba Society of Artists, Manitoba Art Expo, and Uniquely Manitoba. Today she lives and works in Winnipeg as both a visual artist and accomplished singer-songwriter for the Dark Roots Indie Folk band black-eyed SUZIE. Her award winning artwork can be found in private collections throughout Canada.
