Courtney MacIsaac is a contemporary artist born in Ontario, Canada. She was accepted and graduated from art school, apprenticed under an established artist which helped her sharpen her skills in graphite, ink, and oil painting. 

While working tirelessly to hone her technique, her emotionally charged paintings have been the subject to group exhibitions throughout Canada, United States, and Europe. 

She is inspired by artists such as Rembrandt and Caravaggio for realism in their art, Dali for illusion, dream, and imagination, and Banksy for pointing out the absurdity in the world. 

Her art relates to the constant battle that hinders us from making decisions, the feelings of conflict captured into fear, anger, confusion, and loneliness. 

Courtney is able to translate her experiences through her realistic paintings by using elements of art and principles of design to create feeling, emotion, and to challenge the viewer.

    My insane life has fueled my emotionally charged paintings. I find solace when creating. I am inspired by the world around me, but I am mesmerized by the simple everyday things, shadows, lights, architecture, people. I use elements of design and technology to help execute my ideas onto canvas.

I create works that are based on my mental health. I struggle with an internal conflict of never being good enough for the world, constantly trying to prove my own worth. Art is the only way I can. Art doesn’t make me feel alone. I get a feeling of fulfillment from creating something that never existed in the world before. My main purpose in my art is to express my emotions, for the viewer to feel the emotions, relate to them, and know they are not alone in this world, that within those feelings and the pain can be something beautiful.
