David Melamed attended Concordia University Fine Arts, graduating in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a double major in Theater and Religious Studies. In 2011 he became a certified Yoga Instructor in Hatha Yoga at the Sivananda Yoga Institute in Quebec , where he worked and lived between his studies at Concordia University. In 2017, after involving himself in business, management and proprietorship in the Montreal service industry, he decided to devote himself to his lifelong love and interest of the Arts. Having learned stained glass from his father ( architect and former stained glass artist), and working closely with glass artisan, Kim Brewster in Saint Sauveur, David developed his old hobby into a new life- creating unique techniques and creations in the world of Glass Art.

Glass has the unique ability to carry, reflect and refract light. Like water, glass can be both a solid and a liquid. Using the kiln as an instrument, controlling both heat and time, this transition between states can be frozen and captured to create a variety of effects. Like shattered ice and flowing water, temperature and timing are key elements in producing these unique and beautiful creations. We like to think of ourselves as chefs, cooking the way the Earth cooks. Playing with fire and time.
