Résident de Chicoutimi, Gérard Savard est retraité et pratique la peinture acrylique depuis près de deux ans. Autodidacte, sa démarche artistique est très diversifiée. Depuis son adolescence, différentes formes d’art ont fait partie de sa vie. D’abord la peinture, par la suite la mosaïque, la poterie sur tour, la fabrication de meubles en bois, la sculpture sur bois, la création de bijoux (en bois, étain, aluminium, vitrail) pour revenir à son premier amour, la peinture. 

Resident of Chicoutimi, Gérard Savard is retired and has been practicing acrylic painting for nearly two years. Self-taught, his artistic approach is very diversified. Since he was a teenager, different forms of art have been part of his life. First painting, then mosaic, pottery, wooden furniture, wood carving, creating jewelry (in wood, pewter, aluminum, stained glass) to return to his first love, painting.

Je travaille avec l’acrylique parce qu’elle est plus facile à utiliser. L’univers m’attire et m’éblouit au plus haut point et fait partie de l’ensemble des mes œuvres. Comme tout artiste, l’imagination sert de point d’ancrage; après quelques jours, je vois ma peinture d’une façon différente et elle me plaît encore plus. 

I work with acrylic because it's easier to use. The universe attracts me and dazzles me to the highest degree and is part of all my paintings. Like any artist, the imagination serves as an anchor; after a few days, I see my painting in a different way and I like it even more.
