While on the Rocky Mountaineer between Vancouver and Banff, New Zealander and friend Roger Hall took a photo of historic Holy Cross Catholic Church of Notch Hill B.C. which was about to undergo restoration. There was something special about this picture of Canadian history that drove me to paint it.
