Kartik began his artistic journey as a child in Mumbai watching his uncle, who was an architect. As an adult he was able to travel through India, the Middle East, Africa, and other Asian countries before settling in Mississauga. Kartik was constantly inspired by what he saw while travelling — such as the architecture of the Balinese temples, Hagia Sophia museum, and the natural beauty of the Serengeti. Kartik has tried to distill the colours and vibrancy of the lives he witnessed into his artwork.
He is a multimedia artist, incorporating acrylic, oil, gel, clay, charcoal and sculpture into his work. He creates abstract, surrealist artwork as this allows him to represent the feelings of freedom he experiences while in a creative space.

Recently, he was involved in an exhibition about child labour. Being a part of this exhibition helped him bring social issues to the forefront of his art and opened him up to new possibilities. He believes that art is a vital way to shed light on uncomfortable subjects and allow others to question the ways in which they move through life, and how they may impact others.

As an artist of Indo-Canadian heritage it has influenced his work as well has brought his cultural experiences into his art. Paintings by Vincent Van Gogh and MF Hussain are his all-time favorites. He adores hearing and playing the retro and latest Bollywood music. His forte is portraits, horses, semi-abstract and still life. Kartik’s art is displayed in several private and corporate collections.
