Kristine Andrea is a versatile contemporary fine artist who creates pieces with acrylics, oils, and watercolour. She creates her paintings with a combination of realist and impressionist painterly styles. From her expressive chickens and animals, to her graceful figurative pieces, Kristine breathes life onto the canvas. 

Before Kristine paints she slips into a meditative state. During this process, her mind dives into a fantasy world, creating and drawing ideas. Although a meditation practice is intended to quiet the mind, Kristine allows her attention to wander as this is where some of her greatest ideas evolve. Often it feels as if she is receiving silent whispers from spiritual guides who want to explore the canvas with her and guide her through an emotional expression. 

Kristine is a self taught artist who lives in Calgary, AB, Canada. She has exhibited her works in Canada and the United States. Her work is most appreciated in person, for its emotional connection and character. 

Kristine’s painting process with her figurative works begins with a soft tone of opaque acrylic paint, then she introduces soft brush strokes to shape the human form with many translucent layers of oil paint and glazing techniques to illuminate the light touching the skin. The subtle calm colours may appear as one, however the processed layers of colour collaborate and create a peaceful monochromatic tone. Kristine finishes each painting with a subtle matte finish intended to evoke a soft, tender, loving feeling when the viewer gazes upon each image. 

These figurative paintings is a complete  series of 22 pieces, titled The Grace Collection. Kristine selected three tones for this collection that combine both feminine and masculine qualities. 

Each piece begins as one of three tones as the background. The figure is then brought to life with layers by soft brush strokes.
