My bio is my name is Kym Cooper. I love the very essence of being an artist! I have loved the scent of paint and clay between my fingers since I was in elementary school. I consider myself a multi-media surrealist cubist painter--one who creates scenarios that touch my spirit on canvas.  I draw my inspiration from being an Afro-American woman and all in my environment that affects my cultural identity and womanhood. I love being. In Art, you can express all that you are. You get to choose your medium and your substance and train of thought, spirit and heart directs your passion. Your ancestors speak through you and it is a gift. I hold a B.F.A. from American University, a Masters from Lesley College in Elementary Education and a Law Degree from Howard University. 

 I would like to explore the theme of how Afro-Americans have contributed to the multi-layered fabric of our American democracy starting with 1619 up to the present. I am a cubist surrealist painter--I view the world  thru an abstract lens and try to accurately portray that  on canvas. My main avenue of paint is acrylic; but, I mix and match with oil and watercolor and unfounded materials.  My goal is to make the public aware of the the momentous achievements that people of color contributed to this country and the trials and tribulations they went thru to achieve these goals. I would like to do this with interactive venues with the community globally and locally.
