When portrait and caricature artist Linda Laforge isn’t making people laugh drawing caricatures, she’s creating in her studio with her manager Winston the First (her cat), with podcasts or old movies as background noise.

As a creative, Linda has more than 25 years experience as a graphic designer, working for small business. With her Teaching & Training Adults and Creativity, Innovation & Change Certificate from Penn State University, Linda taught design students at Barrie’s Georgian College. She’s been a working member of the Barrie Arts Committee and a founding member and organizer for Word Up, a local all genres reading series since 2014.

Linda’s vivid visual art and writing explore the human disconnection from the natural world by combining symbolism using the fluid line of celtic design and lore within her detailed portraits. She attempts to remind us that our homes wall us from the wind, the trees and the ground while our tech (games, videos, social media) take our attention away from an ecosystem we forget we’re part of. The symbiosis of the Wood Wide Web, the vast interconnected web of organisms that swap sustenance between soil and roots, increasingly figure in her “freaky” and humorous paranormal/fiction writing and bold, clean paintings as an expression of an ideal, nurturing community.
