Luc Saucier nourrit depuis l’adolescence une passion pour la calligraphie. Autodidacte, il a suivi des ateliers auprès de Donald Jackson, Sheila et Julian Waters, John Stevens et Thomas Ingmire.  Il fut calligraphe des affiches à la Chapelle historique du Bon-Pasteur de Montréal de 1991 à 2009. Il fut également, en 1995, concepteur de la première exposition publique de calligraphie à la Chapelle, à laquelle participaient les membres de la Société des Calligraphes. De plus, il a collaboré à plusieurs projets auprès de l’atelier de reliure La Tranchefile de Montréal et fit des présentations à la Grande Bibliothèque (BAnQ).  On retrouve ses oeuvres dans le livre ABC Canada d’Arbor Studio Press (1996) ainsi que dans le périodique Somerset Studio (Fall 1999) et dans le 2004 Calligrapher’s Engagement Calendar. Calligraphe attitré auprès du Héraut d’Armes du Canada depuis 2005, il a aussi réalisé des documents protocolaires pour l’O.A.C.I. (1996), le Ministère de la Culture du Québec (1999) et la Nation Huron-Wendat (2000).  Très sollicité pour la calligraphie d’inscriptions protocolaires auprès des Hôtels de Ville (Montréal, Beloeil, St-Bruno), il calligraphie aussi des documents pour des collèges, des institutions publiques et privées.  Il a aussi prit part à la réalisation de murales avec l’organisme MU-Montréal (2009, 2010, 2013 et 2014) en plus de calligraphier des accessoires manuscrits pour des films, des publicités et des séries télé, notamment le grand parchemin codé de la série The Last Templar (réseau NBC, 2008).  Professeur au Centre des Arts Visuels de Montréal de 1996 à 2004, il donne régulièrement des ateliers à son studio de Mont-Saint-Hilaire et dans la région métropolitaine.  Luc Saucier est membre de l’Union des Artistes (UDA) et de la SODRAC.

Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Luc Saucier fell in love with calligraphy during his early college years in classical voice training.  A self-taught scribe, he has attended workshops by Donald Jackson, Julian Waters, John Stevens and Thomas Ingmire.  He was the official poster calligrapher of Montreal's Chapelle historique du Bon-Pasteur from 1991 to 2009.  His works feature in the book ABC Canada  (Arbor Studio Press, 1996), in the American periodical Somerset Studio (Spring 1999), in the 2004 Calligrapher's Engagement Calendar and in the periodical Letter Arts Review (Summer 2004).  Locally, his collaborative work include many commissions with bookbinder Odette Drapeau of La Tranchefile and presentations at the Grande Bibliothèque (BAnQ).   A commissioned scribe with the Herald of Arms of Canada since December 2004, he has notably penned and illuminated protocolary documents for the International Civil Aviation Organization (1996), the Ministère de la Culture du Québec (1999) and the Huron-Wendat Nation (2000).  In Montreal, he has penned protocolary documents for Concordia University and and Université de Montréal; he is also tasked yearly to inscribe diplomas for the Presbyterian College, the Diocesan College and the Montreal School of Theology.  Aside from private and corporate commissions, municipal governments such as Ville de Montréal and Ville de Beloeil regularly call on him to calligraphy entries in their Honour books.  A sought-after artist for urban murals and media ventures, he collaborated on four occasions with MU-Montreal (2009, 2010, 2013 and 2014) and created manuscript props for film and TV series, such as the large Code parchment seen on the NBC TV series The Last Templar (2008). He taught calligraphy at Westmount's Visual Arts Center from 1996 to 2005 and held his first solo exhibition at the Chapelle in February 1999.  He also gives workshops in the Montreal area, elsewhere in Quebec (Sherbrooke, Sorel, Trois-Rivières) and in his Mont St-Hilaire studio.  Today a freelance singer and calligrapher, Luc Saucier is a member of Quebec's Union des Artistes (UDA) and of the Society for reproduction rights of authors, publishers and composers of Canada (SODRAC). 

Mes sources d’inspiration sont variées mais ma pratique est nourrie par les styles classiques d’Occident.  J’ai un penchant pour les vieux manuscrits, l’enluminure, l’art de la fioriture et la calligraphie créative.

Although I draw inspiration from a wide range of styles and periods, I specialize in Western classical hands.  I’m especially fond of old manuscripts, illuminating, the art of flourishing and creative calligraphy.
