Rhonda Evans is a multidisciplinary artist that recently converted her comercial greenhouse into a gallery/studio. A collaborative space for local artists to work at her farm. Influenced by her home province Newfoundland, it’s rugged landscape and warm spirit, as well as her family farm, environment plays a large role in her subject matter. These days, she is happiest in her studio when working with bright colours on anything from floral imagery, to the babbling brooks and rocky shores of home, to playing with paint and Ink, wool, glass or wood. Chaos you may say- Maybe! But this is ‘making’ ~ and anything is possible.

The artwork featured in my portfolio for Gallea is a combination of floral and landscape imagery. Alcohol ink on translucent yupo paper is magical to me. I love that it has a way of transforming from just colour on a page to modelled splotches and layers that build dimensional elements, images that pop! I rarely start a piece with ann expectation of what the outcome will look like, it just happens. I am a story teller, and writing with ink imagery my paintings come to life . I loose myself in my work. “Hop in and go on an adventure, or smell the flowers as they stand tall in the garden,” I guarantee you too will get lost.
