I was born and raised in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.  Born a "Southpaw" or left handed, into an artistic family.   I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome in 2009 at the age 40.  I am an abstract expressionist, graphic illustrator, published poet (showcased on the Art of Autism website for their Art of Autism Peace Project on September 10, 2021), tenor and acoustic guitar player. 

I have a University degree in both Psychology and Education. I studied art at the University of Toronto: Ontario Institute for Studies in Education from 2001-2002, while completing my Bachelor of Education.

I taught visual arts and specifically abstract expressionism during my early years as a Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT).  During the Spring of 2004, while teaching First Nation's students in Fort Albany, Ontario (an Indigenous community accessible only by plane), where I first introduced 'Action Painting' to my students.  

One of my greatest challenges was navigating a neurotypical world as a Naval Reserve Officer with the Canadian Forces, and later as a Special Education Teacher with undiagnosed ASD. 

For me, the creation of my art is easy and natural. It is the additional executive functioning and management of promoting my art that poses challenges.

Je suis un expressionniste abstrait Canadien émergent atteint du syndrome d'Asperger. Mon médium principal est l'acrylique et j'utilise une technique qui utilise des pinceaux et d'autres outils comme des bâtons au lieu de pinceaux. Mes peintures utilisent la technique du "dripstyle" officiellement rendue populaire dans les années 40 et 50 par le peintre Américain Jackson Pollock. Je m'écarte de l'approche de Pollock de plusieurs manières critiques, cependant, la méthodologie et la philosophie artistique de Jackson m'ont certainement offert les « pierres angulaires » fondamentalement dans ce genre artistique. J'utilise une composition "allover" pour ne permettre aucun centre d'attention visuel. Mon penchant autiste pour le souci du détail, la concentration intense, le perfectionnisme, l'utilisation de la couleur, de la ligne et de la forme, sont ses plus grandes forces et son désir en tant qu'artiste est de transmettre ces talents dans chaque pièce unique. 

I am an emerging Canadian Abstract Expressionist with Asperger's Syndrome.  My primary medium is acrylic, and I employ a technique that uses brushes and other tools as sticks instead of brushes.  My paintings utilize the "dripstyle" technique formally made popular in the 1940's & 50's by American painter Jackson Pollock.  I deviate from Pollock's approach in several critical ways, however, Jackson's methodology and artistic philosophy certainly offered me the 'cornerstones' fundamentally into this artistic genre.  I make use of an "allover" composition to permit no visual centre of attention.  My Autistic penchant for attention to detail, intense focus, perfectionism, use of colour, line and form, are my greatest strengths and my desire as an artist is to convey those talents in each unique piece.
