After 25 years as the film critic on CBC Radio One in Ottawa, I retired in 2018. I had begun painting in oil in 2017, and  I decided to pursue this passion more seriously by taking some painting classes and exploring both studio and plein air painting, I work in smaller sizes (8 x 10, 12 x 16) using oil paint on canvas, canvas board or wood panel.

J’ai été chroniqueur de cinéma à la CBC à Ottawa pendant 25 ans. Après ma retraite en 2018, j’ai décidé de poursuivre mon exploration de la peinture à l’huile commencée quelques années avant. Je me consacre à peindre des paysages (à partir de photos ou en plein air) sur toile ou sur panneau de bois, en format de 8 x 10 ou 12 x 16.

After 25 years as the film critic on CBC Radio One in Ottawa, I retired in 2018. I have always been interested in painting - landscape painting in particular - and I decided to try my hand at it. Over the past five years I have taken some painting lessons, and done both studio and plein air paiinting, working to hone my skills.
I work in smaller sizes (8 x 10, 12 x 16) using oil paint on canvas or (preferably) wood panel.

My landscapes and seascapes explore the coastlines of Canada and New England as well as the beauty of my beloved Gatineau Hills.
I wish to portray the landscape in all its tranquility, almost always devoid of man-made objects, or any traces of human settlement. I am especially attracted to the places where the elements embrace, i.e. sea and sky, land and sea, earth and water.

Mes paysages et paysages marins sont en quelque sorte une célébration de la beauté du Canada, de la Nouvelle-Angleterre et de la vallée de la Gatineau où j’habite depuis toujours.
Je cherche à évoquer la nature dans toute sa tranquillité et spiritualité; ramenant l’observateur à la lointaine époque avant que l’homme n’y ait laissé ses traces. Je suis particulièrement fasciné par les endroits où la mer embrasse la terre; où ciel et mer se rencontrent.
