I am a Métis Winnipeg-based artist whose creative practice is eclectic, and I am always looking challenge and experimentation. My goal is to be a well-rounded artist that is able to achieve any project I may come up with, no matter how wild, or difficult. 

I am an artist who has a passion for colour, and this is reflected in my work. I find inspiration in many areas of study such as fashion, gender identity, biology, plant science, chemistry, and music, and often marry these concepts with feminist ideals to create my work.

I work in a wide array of mediums. I consider myself to be a painter first and foremost although I also work with installation, ceramics, sculpture, textiles, sound, photography and most recently beading.

 

I am always hunting for alternative mediums, finishes, and chemical processes to contribute to my work, such as glass, materials that change colour with heat, holographic materials, and reflective mica pigments. 

 

For the past few years I have been very focused on making my own art materials to use as a way to connect to my indigenous ancestry and métis land. This first started with researching and creating my own non-toxic natural pigments that I could make into oil paints using plants from my own garden. From this, my practice had blossomed into a research based practice focussing on working with the land in which I live (Treaty 1 Territory). I now make my own plant based dyes, and harvest Red River clay and process it myself to use in my ceramic work.
