Retired commercial artist living on Vancouver Island. I enjoy working with chicken wire and breathing life into a seemingly rigid, industrial material. I am inspired by women with strong stories. Greek myths are a great resource for inspiring backgrounds that reflect on the human condition.

Artistic approach

I use 1/2’ chicken wire. I usually start with a sketch and then begin to form my core structure, building it up layer by layer to full size. Years of life drawing and basic anatomy kick in and my fingers do the thinking. No armature is used. I add the dress and hair at the end, letting them swirl around the figure.
