Terry (TerrBear) Lauzon Artist Bio:                                                                                                                                       
Terry is a self-taught pencil also a pen and ink artist, whose interest and talents were recognized early in his life (Terry at seven yrs old was part of Vancouver’s BC Art Gallery children’s art display). He returned to drawing as a hobby in 2015. Terry Lauzon is a French Metis Artist based in Edmonton Alberta, Canada, specializing in high precision pencil, pen and ink drawings inspired by Canadian nature and Metis Culture, some architecture. Formerly an engineering piping designer, he creates detailed art works featuring wildlife and sells his art through platforms like Gallea and at Metis Crossing. Terry worked as yellow school bus driver for seven years in Edmonton Alberta. 

Theme: Canadian landscapes, wildlife: (e.g., bears, bison, birds, raccoons, wolfs, whales, bees and insects). Terry draws pets too. Terry draws and sells several Children animal coloring booklets as a fundraiser for Elves Special Needs Society. He drove school bus for Elves Special Needs Society two campuses schools for five years. 

Artist Style: Combines a 30 year engineering background with fine art, focusing on precision, shading and intricate lines. He is spired by Metis Culture and learning Metis teachings, He starts several drawings a year on Metis land, being touched by the Creator while on the land at Metis Crossing Smoky Lake Alberta, Canada. 

The bear paw featured in each of Terry’s artworks honors his First Nation family members. This includes his great aunt’s family, three aunties along with their children and great-grandchildren, as well as his brother’s partner, who was Cree. Terry’s father came from Huron-Métis and French roots in Northern Ontario and in Quebec. Terry is also a distant relative of the Huron-Wendate Nation of Canada from the Great Lakes region. Additionally, he is connected to the first Métis people born in Quebec (New France), who were involved in the fur trade with French Explorer Samuel de Champlain, in the 1600’s. 

After his father’s death in 1972, a close family friend—his adopted Auntie Leona—taught eleven-year-old Terry Indigenous animal stories. As she told these stories, Terry would draw the animals with pencils. Auntie Leona was born on a First Nation in Northern Manitoba. 

 

Terry has worked in the engineering field as a piping designer for thirty plus years, the last generation designers off the old manual drafting board. He has built several billions of dollar engineering projects over his career. He uses only pencils  and also pen and ink in creating his art. Join him in celebrating our Canadian nature and architectural treasures by owning an affordable piece of art nostalgia, gifting his art pieces to new Canadians or visitors to our country. Many of Terry's art sales proceeds go to charities he holds dear. Starting in 2022 till present Terry makes yearly version of children's and adult coloring booklet of Canadian animals, available upon request.
