Biography

Tim was born at Hamilton, Ontario but his earliest memories of being immersed in artwork were in North Vancouver. As a young child, his mother, renowned artist Dorothy Francis, would sit him down at the dining room table with pastels and paper.

Later, attending the Applied Arts program at Capilano College in North Vancouver, he was awarded government bursaries and college scholarships and placed on The Dean’s List.

Artistic approach

I’m attempting to capture the feel of the region in my landscapes, with attention to the fact that there is more going on in our universe than what might always meet the eye. With the Orca paintings, I’m looking to draw attention to the endangered Salish Sea resident orcas by placing them in habitats familiar to most people in the area. Most recently I've turned to abstraction, just because it's fun.
