Evelyne Lace est une artiste peintre autodidacte résidant à Montréal.

Ayant fait preuve d’une grande polyvalence artistique à travers le temps, elle aura expérimenté et œuvré dans des disciplines très variées: jonglerie, photographie, danse, maquillage artistique, joaillerie et chant. Evelyne a toutefois toujours particulièrement affectionné la peinture (depuis 2000), laquelle aura su combler son besoin créatif.

Si l’exercice de la peinture s’est d’abord fait en dilettante, et de manière plus personnelle et solitaire à l’adolescence, Evelyne s’affaire, depuis 2019, à déployer les efforts pour joindre la communauté artistique, dans l’espoir de partager, d’échanger avec d’autres artistes et rendre ses œuvres visibles au public intéressé.

Evelyne tente souvent de refléter, de façon conceptuelle et symbolique, un processus d’introspection tant au niveau du développement personnel qu’au niveau sociétal. Ses œuvres se veulent un temps d’arrêt ou un retour sur les moments charnières et certains états d’âme (enfance, maternité & parentalité, deuil, solitude, nostalgie, mépris et acceptation de soi). S’il y a systématiquement cohabitation nuancée de la beauté et de la laideur, de la sagesse et de la bêtise, ses œuvres se veulent souvent un témoignage d’espoir.

Evelyne Lace is a self-taught painter living in Montreal. She has demonstrated great artistic versatility over time, as she has experimented with a wide variety of artistic disciplines: juggling, photography, dance, special effects & artistic makeup, jewelry and singing. Yet, Evelyne has always been particularly fond of painting (since her teenage years). While painting was initially performed in a more dilettant and amateur way, Evelyne has started to display her art in 2019, in hopes of joining the artistic community, to share and exchange with other artists and make her work available to art lovers. Evelyne often attempts to reflect, conceptually and symbolically, the process of introspection both from personal development and societal standpoints. Her work is often the representation of a retrospective on pivotal moments or moods (childhood, parenthood, mourning, loneliness, nostalgia, self-contempt, and self-acceptance). If there is almost systematically a nuanced cohabitation of beauty and ugliness, of wisdom and stupidity, her work is often filled with hope.

Je réalise des œuvres abstraites contemporaines, souvent texturées, ainsi qu’oniriques ou spatiales lorsque plus figuratives.

Ma démarche s’est initialement révélée plus thérapeutique et naïve, qu’intentionnelle et dirigée. Actuellement, bien que la composition et le symbolisme de mes œuvres soient plus définis, mon processus créatif demeure plutôt libre.

Ma signature artistique se retrouve particulièrement dans la forme de mes courbes (au pinceau & au couteau), dans mon utilisation fréquente de la texture et l’ajout de « particules ».
